This weekend a new English book was launched. The title is TOMO, and it is a collection of 36 short stories about Japan—all by different writers. The stories are not long and, since the target readers are teenagers (Young Adult), they are not too difficult for “non-native” readers.
All of the royalties for TOMO will be donated to organizations devoted to teenage victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Tohoku.
One NPO is Hope for Tomorrow
I was honored to be able to translate one of the stories in TOMO. The title is “Law of Gravity,” and the author is Yuko Katakawa, a young author of five novels.
I was delighted to meet Ms. Katakawa at a recent event to launch the book.
